He was puzzled after noticing how focused and thoughtful the players seemed. He was fascinated by how each move mattered and how players had to plan ahead rather than rely on speed or luck and how a seemingly black and white square with funny pieces on them enraptured the players and the audience. This curiosity motivated him to take up chess himself. As a beginner, he is enjoying learning the rules and understanding basic strategies. His teacher, Sarbojit Paul has played a major role in maintaining this new found interest of his. The game has been helping him improve his concentration and patience, and it has been rewarding to see his enthusiasm grow with each new game he plays. Coach Feedback: Nathan is a very joyful and energetic kid. He is very much active in the class while solving puzzles. He loves to learn new topics and very much excited to play games over the board. I first noticed his passion for chess when he frequently played chess games on the computer and spent a lot of time watching chess videos on YouTube. In October 2025, a friend introduced me to Brilliance Academy. Their prompt responses and the clarity with which they addressed all my questions gave me confidence in their approach. That same month, we enrolled Dhyan for a trial session with Mr. Shashank. Dhyan thoroughly enjoyed the class, which encouraged us to continue his training there. Under the guidance of Mr. Shashank, Dhyan has learned various tactics and strategic moves that have strengthened his overall understanding and approach to the game. He is gaining a better understanding of the basic principles and is slowly becoming more confident in applying them during practice sessions. His ability to identify simple tactical ideas and think through his moves has become more consistent. It is also encouraging to see that he is showing interest and putting effort into understanding the game structure, which is a good foundation for future learning. Over the last five months, he has grown a lot, mainly thanks to his coach, Srushti. She is very kind, patient, calm, and encouraging, explaining ideas and tricks in simple ways. Aadil now thinks before moving, uses basic opening ideas, looks forward to class, and even after losing, wants to learn instead of getting upset. He can focus longer on games or puzzles and tries to find the best move. As parents, we are very happy with these changes and grateful to Srushti for helping our beginner grow as a player and child.
