Dhevnessh Vadivelan is a determined and curious 12-year-old who embarked on his chess journey in December 2024. Initially, chess wasn’t his first choice—his mother encouraged him to take up the game to strengthen his critical thinking skills. Though reluctant at first, Dhevnessh’s perspective shifted over time, and what began as an obligation soon turned into a genuine passion.

A major influence in this transformation was his chess coach, Mr. Sarbojit Paul, who not only taught him strong openings and tactical strategies but also instilled the confidence to compete against more experienced players. Inspired by his coach’s encouragement, Dhevnessh now takes the initiative to sharpen his skills beyond lessons. In his free time, he actively practices by playing against his father and challenging opponents online.

Through dedication and perseverance, Dhevnessh continues to grow as a player, constantly refining his strategic thinking and deepening his appreciation for the game. His chess journey is a testament to his resilience, adaptability, and eagerness to push his own limits.
