 Joel Johnson, a spirited 9-year-old and a 4th grader at DMIS Doha, has been captivated by the world of chess since the age of 6. As one among the twin kids with a competitive edge, Joel’s journey into the game began at home, inspired by lively matches with his uncle and grandfather, both avid chess enthusiasts. His talent shone brightly when he clinched victory in a school competition, marking the beginning of a serious commitment to the game.

Since September 2024, Joel has been honing his skills under the expert mentorship of Mr. Harish Pujari, mastering strategies and tactics that have sharpened his critical thinking and elevated his gameplay. 

Joel’s unwavering passion and steady progress in chess highlight his potential as a remarkable young talent.
